ABSTRACT
This is the first chapter in Part II ‘Case studies of learning to teach in specific contexts’. The chapter provides a summary of the research design detailed in Chapter 2 of the book. It describes the principles for selecting the settings for the research we report in Part II, including at the meso level, the HEIs and schools providing teacher education, and at the micro level the particular student teachers included in our case studies.
