ABSTRACT

So far, we have examined the key attributes and functions of criticism as well as its application to the various components of the communication process. In this chapter, we further explore the underpinnings of electronic media criticism by looking at knowledge attainment. How do individuals and audiences come to know and understand things? How might these comprehension procedures be categorized? How can media criticism consider differences in knowledge acquisition patterns when appraising how programs are perceived? These are the major questions this chapter discusses.
