ABSTRACT

This final chapter returns to the key points raised throughout this text about teaching and learning through mathematical problem solving and investigations: an understanding of the different ways that individuals think, knowledge of the diverse ways that teachers can present learning opportunities and an appreciation of the impact such approaches have on how individual students learn mathematics is key to effective teaching and learning through problem solving in mathematics. This chapter presents a summary of these aspects to demonstrate how you can embrace problem solving and investigating in your classroom. We aim to encourage you to think about how you will engage the students in challenging (and life-changing?) activities in mathematics.
