ABSTRACT

The cultivation of the writing subject takes the centre of the system of education theoretically and practically. Higher education and civil service examinations are active mechanisms for selecting candidates for universities and governments. The post-graphocentric education can be termed 'daoful' because the underpinning forces are daos. In the Confucian ru tradition, self-cultivation is generally construed as 'the hierarchically organised social education, moulding, and shaping of a pre-established and inborn nature, whether good or bad', whereas early Daoist view 'does not require the constancy of an internal nature or essence'. To Chinese-speaking people, post-graphocentrism offers a different lens for viewing the accustomed language anew. This is where we can find creativity and novelty for education and life. The concepts of education, school, and play, which share the essential meaning of leisure, are closely related in the sense that education is undertaken through play and, conversely, play is engaged in education.
