ABSTRACT

Adverbs and adverbials are the lexical items and grammatical constructions that answer the basic questions When? Where? Why? and How? and their variations like What time? in what direction? for what? to what end? in what way? how often? to what degree? and so forth. Adverbs and adverbials are the most diverse categories of grammar because they are so pervasive in discourse and appear in multiple forms, from a single word to extended clauses.
