ABSTRACT

Materials in CINEMA 4D Lite can be created using bitmaps or generated mathematically using shaders. Materials can even save on modeling time through the use of the bump and displacement maps. A material affects the surface of an object through a combination of different parameters. These parameters are categorized into channels that include color, transparency, reflection, etc. The Material Editor in CINEMA 4D allows to access and edit these channels to change the material's appearance. The 3D shaders provide quick and efficient textures for models. Notice that the Cheen shader does not show any seams nor distort around the curved edges of the capsule. It calculates the placement of the texture based on the volume of the shape. One special channel shader is Noise. This shader can turn a flat, smooth surface into a turbulent ocean.
