ABSTRACT

In chapter 2 , we used a conceptual model to briefl y overview several of the recurring connections that have been observed between the three dimensions of religion (beliefs, practices, and faith communities) and three different types of relationships within families (mother-child, father-child, and marital). In the present chapter, we will take a much closer look at research relating to the latter of these relationships, marriage. (Parent-child relationships will be treated in-depth in chapters 6 and 7 ). We will also examine the important consideration of challenges in marriage.
