ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the narratives to relate both pre- and post-transition experiences. It aims to examine Susana’s specific process of coming to a non- heteronormative identity rather than to consider her distinct experiences along with those of other participants. The chapter includes more than just one individual’s experiences in order to be able to reflect more broadly on translatina narratives. It discusses interview data and specifically on narratives told within the context of an in-depth interview, which was carried out in January 2013. Susana is a 50-year-old trans woman originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. The data analysis that follows will be divided into two sections. The first section looks at five narratives that fit under the umbrella of narratives about declaration. The second section examines the migration narratives that are intertwined with Susana’s declaration narratives.
