ABSTRACT
If students are to exhibit the skills of the Common Core, they need to know how to have academically-focused conversations that are in-depth, meaningful, and sustained. The ability to verbalize knowledge and understanding and to interact with a variety of people in the process is necessary if students are to be college and career ready.
