ABSTRACT

This chapter presents three excellent websites for audio pronunciation of phonemes in the following (International Phonetic Alphabet) IPA tables such as: University of Victoria; UCLA; Paul Meier and Dialect Services. The IPA chart of vowel sounds. Speakers of English dialects use about half of these sounds. Front, Central, and Back indicate where the sounds are made. If you can envision a very large left profile of someone's head, the positions of the phonemes would be in the approximate places in the mouth where the tongue would be making them.
