ABSTRACT

It is a brief overview of syntax, the structure of phrases, clauses, and sentences in a language and the rules that govern how they’re structured. This chapter covers the categorization of words by part of speech, the categorization of sentence structures. It discusses the ways words can combine in English. It describes how English syntax has changed over time and how English syntax varies from region to region.
