ABSTRACT

We have touched upon the topic of emotions in other chapters. Many of the examples we have provided thus far exemplify the positive emotions associated with collaboration. In these instances, teachers have not only willingly worked together, but they have sought out opportunities to do so. Their experience contrasts sharply with the experience of many other teachers who feel (and often are) forced to work together and do not find benefit in collaborating with their colleagues. Whereas time flew when teachers in the former category worked together, teachers in many other team meetings cannot wait for the meetings to end. Thus, perceptions of collaborative time vary a great deal depending on the value and emotions that teachers associate with it.
