ABSTRACT
Leadership is a field of study that is constantly remaking itself. Assessment leadership is equally new and innovative. Theories in this chapter deal with assessment as a matter of complexity and chaos; as a process aimed at iteratively investigating patterns in organizational contexts. Assessment leaders will be able to apply concepts such as the complex adaptive system (CAS), organizational tension, or patterning to help their institutions organize for sustained improvement.
