ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 performs a theoretical détente seeking to release tension among intellectual traditions informing the force field that makes this intellectual project possible. Alongside with that, the chapter speaks of the intellectual activity that a moment of repose enables, nurturing scholarly life. This theoretical détente uses the main words in the project: the word conversation and the word Latinoamérica as in the strong sense in which they underpin this text; the words regressive, progressive, analytical, and synthetical as components of the method of currere which are paired together in the variant of that method suggested here. Those words act, then, as gravitational centers of force fields of theoretical influences, helping to bring together different traditions.
