ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the ways in which makers share their work on the Web. The chapter presents three different kinds of sharing: a) a youth creating a “how-to” on the website instructables.com, b) two adult entrepreneurs using https://Kickstarter.com to crowdsource financing for their product, and c) youth in a summer program using blogging to share their work as inspiration for future program youth. We use these instances to theorize about the role of identities and presentation of self in making literacies.
