ABSTRACT

The pressure is on to make public transport attractive, with the long-term effect of improving quality of life in towns and cities (if not also the countryside and hinterland) and saving depleting energy resources. Considerable research energy has been applied to offer recommended ways of achieving successful transport interchanges. This is because it is not only the public transport vehicle and its service which counts: It is the whole journey, and that so often involves a traveller transferring from one route or mode to another.
