ABSTRACT
Computer systems are inherently safe when used for their intended purpose, however computer users are subjected to possible injuries if they fail to comply with safe working practices. This health and safety (HS) unit will look at the hazards and safe working practices for the following user categories:
• Operators • Service personnel
• Use of hardware • Posture • Monitors
The Health and Safety at Work (HSW) Act states that, ‘employees must take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others effected by what they do at work’.
