ABSTRACT

What you learned in the first two chapters has given you a solid background and a basic knowledge of sequencing. By now you should have a good idea about the potential offered by the tools you are using and how they can inspire your creativity and improve your productions. If what you learned in Chapter 2 provided you enough information and skills to start sequencing, in this chapter you will gain a deeper knowledge of more advanced sequencing techniques and tools, such as “groove” quantization options, MIDI channel layering, audio and MIDI track layering, editing techniques, and how to use and program tempo changes. In the second part of this chapter you will learn about the practical aspects of sequencer-based production and project management, such as the synchronization of nonlinear machines and backup and archive techniques.
