ABSTRACT

All of the challenges confronting the tourism industry cannot be examined in just one text. Indeed, new challenges are constantly emerging as transport and technology make access to remote locations more available and customers seek different and novel experiences. In addition, global events external to tourism continue to shock and disrupt the world's largest industry. However, as a starting point, most of the current health, safety and security issues identified in Chapter 1 will remain in one form or another as continuing challenges in the immediate future, so it is worth taking another look at them from a strategic management perspective.
