ABSTRACT
Besides designing the Autonomous House in Southwell, the Vales designed a group of ultra-low energy houses at Hockerton in Nottinghamshire. This is a narrow plan single aspect group of houses fully earth sheltered on the north side with the earth carried over the roof. The south elevation is completely occupied by a generous sunspace across all the units.
