ABSTRACT
What role do all the strategy courses and consulting seminars play in learning to think strategically? A seemingly weak and unconvincing role. Again, it is important to differentiate between learning to think strategically and learning to plan systematically. As noted earlier, thinking strategically does not tend to happen in meetings or at work — it occurs informally outside work in a very nonlinear manner. This is an interesting point to note for those responsible for strategic development. Thinking strategically is a considerably more holistic, conceptual, and complex exercise than sequential and linear planning.
