ABSTRACT

Do you remember as a child going to the local carnival or fair? Remember the booth that offered “Spin Art”? It consisted of a turntable from an old record player, some mustard and catsup squeeze bottles fi lled with paint, and a piece of tagboard. The concept was a simple one. Anyone could be an “artist.” You stepped up to the turntable, placed the tagboard on the spindle, and with the board whirling quickly around, you proceeded to squirt paint onto the board. You were fi nished in seconds. Voila! An interesting random spin pattern emerged. It was destined to hang on Mom’s refrigerator as your artwork. It was mindless and fun.
