ABSTRACT

Spain is the world's second most popular destination behind France, in terms of international tourist arrivals, and second after the USA in international tourism receipts (Table 12.1). In 2002, tourist arrivals from abroad increased by 3.3% to 51.7 million, which followed a 1.6% rise the previous year. Receipts fell by a similar percentage to £22.4 billion, but were still comfortably above 2000's level.
