Bonding details

This chapter deals with bonding details involving the use of bricks of special shape called plinths, and of squints, and where walls do not intersect at right angles, e.g. obtuse angle quoins of more than 90°; and of acute angles of less than 90° in plan. (Chapter 14 describes the range of BS special shape bricks available.)

The arrangement of face bonds other than English, Flemish and stretcher bonds is illustrated, followed by coverage of isolated piers, bond patterns for decorative panels, and the formation of brickwork curved on plan.
