ABSTRACT

The bricklayer has no conventional rules to work with, but the rules to be used are those which are the outcome of experience.

The apprentice will no doubt have other problems to handle besides those shown. Time should be spent to visualise the job, consider the best methods of approach, and use all the skills possible, whether the work is to be covered or is to be highly decorative, for all to see. As a learner, the apprentice should never allow quality to be sacrificed for speed, which will be attained by constant practice.
