Voltage drop

Regulation number 525-01-02 states that the maximum voltage drop in any circuit from the origin of the supply, to the terminals of the current using equipment must not exceed 4% of the supply voltage. If supply voltage is 230 V, the calculation to find 4% is

230 × 4 100

= 9.2 V

Enter into calculator 230 × 4% = 9.2 Therefore, total voltage drop permissible is 9.2 volts on a 230 volt supply.
