Ergonomics can be defined as the study of man in relation to his working environment and work equipment. Through the application of practical techniques, ergonomics can make the machine operator’s efforts more effective and his working life easier. An increasing number of European and international standards contain requirements to follow ergonomic principles and this is a factor that must be considered in the design of machines and their safeguarding arrangements.
