ABSTRACT

Once you have completed your dissertation, and undertaken your oral examination if appropriate, there is little more you can do other than to wait for the result. If you have followed this handbook carefully, and you have put in some hard work and diligent thinking, then you should have done very well, and may be now thinking of ways of pursuing this kind of research further. If not, then you may be thinking of how you can redress the situation. Either way, some advice on what to do after the dissertation follows. Also included here is some advice about what to do if something has gone badly wrong during the research process, or if you have been faced with other, unavoidable difficulties.
