ABSTRACT

During the entire history of IT, the importance of user and business unit involvement in IT projects and oversight has been widely recognized. Many IT failures have been laid at the feet of the users. Various strategies have been attempted. For some time, users were allowed to go out on their own and acquire services and systems. This was often in response to user complaints that IT was not responsive to their needs. Many of these user efforts failed. Today, things have changed. Business processes cross multiple departments. The processes are more integrated. IT has responded by implementing ERP and other integrated systems.
