ABSTRACT
Now that you have embraced the art of lighting for the “normal” scene, it's time to look at special effects lighting, which is basically 75% of the lighting you will do. Besides, what is normal lighting anyway? Your job is now to pull off the illusion you (or the director) want by using lighting. Creativity is your biggest asset, so you must employ it in abundance. In this chapter we discuss how to use light to achieve the special effects you desire, how to get the best result with the least amount of lighting effort, and what is new out there and what it can do to make your life easier.
