ABSTRACT

Working as a professional Lighting Programmer requires many skills beyond programming of lights. The relationship between a programmer and an LD is oftentimes more important than how well either one can handle his individual job. One of the most amazing things in our profession is how a group of people who have never met before can come together and make a show a success in a short amount of time. The working relationships become just as important as the knowledge and skill of those involved. The first time we work with a designer, we must quickly determine how he or she works, their personality, their quirks, etc. Oftentimes there is very little time to “get to know” the people you are working with, as production schedules are too tight.
