ABSTRACT
Three commonly accepted Western wedding traditions with invented
roots that were largely framed by the media are the diamond
en gagement ring, the double-ring ceremony, and the white wedding
gown.
The fact that “the American diamond engagement ring sector is a
keystone to the worldwide natural diamond market” (Fram and Baron,
2004, p. 340) is due solely to very successful marketing initiatives.
