JOINERY FITMENTS AND PURPOSE – MADE JOINERY
Examples of how some domestic fitments may appear are shown in Fig. 10.1. It is usual for each group of fitments to be named according to their location, for example: (a) kitchen fitments; (b) bathroom fitments; (c) bedroom fitments. Fitments are, of course, found in other areas of the home, such as a lounge or a dining room but, because their use is often multi-purpose, they are less specifically named. Such an item could consist of a fitted base or wall unit – even a shelved room-divider – which might at sometime be expected to house among other things a television, video, and/or hi-fi systems.
