ABSTRACT

Introduction Whether your background as a photographer comes from a long history of shooting fi lm, or even if you have always embraced digital capture, one aspect of working within the digital domain becomes very clear all too rapidly. Whilst every form of technology involves new ways of working, no matter how experienced a photographer might be, to use digital methods most appropriately requires a new approach and a new type of workfl ow. Such a digital methodology not only draws from the accumulated history and operations of anolog based photography, but also embraces and harnesses the power and versatility of the digital domain. The fi ve main stages of a digital capture workfl ow revolve around the following aspects:

Using the camera and its settings appropriately for the syle of photography being undertaken. Storing the captured images in a manner that is both cost effective and fl exible. Organizing the resulting fi les so that they can be easily and effectively accessed. Preparing the image fi les so that they suit the intended purpose. Transmitting, delivering or outputting the fi nal images.
