Cost-Benefit Analysis

Cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is basically a technique for comparing the costs and benefits of a project. The technique was originally developed to help appraise public sector projects to ensure that one achieved the greatest possible value for money, but the concept of costbenefit analysis has now applications far beyond the public sector domain. In this chapter we are particularly concerned with CBA in the context of risk and safety assessment.
