The previous chapter considered the role of the off-the-job or classroom course in ‘supporting, accelerating and directing interventions that meet organizational needs’ (to return to the first half of our role definition for the people development professional introduced in Chapter 1 (p. 18)). In some circumstances, one may say many circumstances, this approach is appropriate to the learner and the context in which he or she is learning.
