ABSTRACT
When an object is filmed in front of a greenscreen, green light from the brightly lit green backing screen contaminates the foreground object in a variety of ways. Because the edges of the foreground object are not perfectly sharp due to lens limitations, the edges become blended with the green backing. There may also be semitransparent elements, such as smoke or glass, and the ever-present wisps of hair. There can be shiny elements that reflect the green backing regardless of how much dulling spray is used. Then there is the ubiquitous flare and spill.
