In the previous chapter, we saw how a well-executed asset management system ensures that all the data for the digital intermediate-the digital images and the files supporting them-are intact and accounted for. However, the data doesn’t yet have any structure, coherence, purpose, or meaning. It must be organized to form the fully edited final piece. This is achieved by assembling the required sequences, shots, and frames, as determined by the production’s editor, in a process known as “conforming.”
