ABSTRACT
Broadcasting today is heavily dependent on computers and the associated information technology. This is partly for regular office programs used for station management, and partly for the specialized software applications that are increasingly used for systems such as program planning, traffic, electronic newsrooms, and station automation. In addition, much of the equipment used for processing digital audio and digital video is based on computer technology. Also, as we learned in the previous chapters, digital audio and digital video signals are defined using the same terms used for computer data. For all of these reasons, it is worth going over some of the basic terms and components that relate to the information technology side of broadcast engineering.
