ABSTRACT

Closed loop systems have feedback, monitoring and control, but open loop systems do not.

Clear objectives are necessary for good control. Performance standards should be well defined and expressly stated. The big mistake is to assume that you don’t need a plan, because you think

the what, why, who, how, when and where are all too self-evident. The cost and effort of monitoring has to be balanced against the

improvements in control that it can bring.
