Why Learn from Projects?

Substantial attention has been directed toward gathering lessons learned during the project. Doing this motivates the team and provides valuable information for the current project work. You can also gather lessons learned toward the end of the project in the project review. The review of a project is often called a postimplementation review or postmortem. Because we associated death of a project with failure, we will adopt postimplementation review here for a general project. The bottom line in this chapter is to discover how we can gather and use lessons learned from a completed project to help us with current and future projects.
