Transforming the Human Resources function

Perhaps no other function has been subject to as much criticism in recent years as HR. In tandem with other ‘back office’ or ‘support’ functions, HR has been challenged to prove that it adds value – otherwise it is seen as an unnecessary overhead to be borne by the rest of the business. In this chapter we look at the Human Resources (HR) function itself as a change case study and consider how HR can maximize its contribution to sustainable success.
