INTRODUCTION This ﬁnal chapter looks at how you can develop as an HR strategy consultant, which draws together many of the process threads of this book.
Learning to think strategically is just one of the qualifying steps to becoming your own strategy consultant in the round. In addition to being able to understand, diagnose and resolve key strategic issues effectively, you will also need to be able to accomplish the more difﬁcult task of carrying others within the organization with that thinking. Paradoxically, this can sometimes mean holding back from advancing your own strategic thinking too far – otherwise it may take too long for others to catch up. Also, there is a very real risk that you might close your mind off to thoughts and perceptions that may come from others.
