ABSTRACT
On-line editing is the electronic equivalent of negative cutting. This process is used if you will not be cutting negative or if you are not cutting your negative until after you deliver a “nished videotape version. Sometimes an on-line is necessary to provide the promotional department with advertising material before the show is actually “nished and delivered. Very often, due to production schedules, the “nal version of a television show (with sweetened audio, visual effects, corrected color, and titling) is not available until a day or two before the airdate.
