Knowledge-Processing Technology

This fifth element of the management architecture-information science or the technology-has been the primary focus of many knowledge management programs-at least in the United States. It is the culmination of advances in artificial intelligence, computer technology, and communications capability. According to our research, to exploit technology to the fullest, organizations need to give due attention to the human and organizational factors (i.e., the new knowledge value proposition discussed in Chapter 2). This is the area that has experienced the most radical transformation of all as evidenced by the e-commerce and e-learning explosion.
