ABSTRACT

On arriving for an interior shoot, the first thing to do is to get a feel for the room or rooms to be photographed, and to make a mental note of the direction that the windows in each room face in order to calculate a shooting sequence that will make the best possible use of any available natural sunlight. A compass is useful for this purpose, bearing in mind that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west from a southerly direction (the degree of which varies with the time of year).
