ABSTRACT

With Xpress Pro, the Timeline takes on an even greater level of maturity with the addition of audio metering and increased interface options. Xpress Pro contains several methods to navigate the Timeline. The Timeline Scale bar was first introduced with the Avid MCXpress system many years ago. The Timeline Audio menu controls the function of the meters. The video monitoring on Xpress Pro works vertically from the top down. Digital scrubbing is what occurs when the position indicator is dragged across the Timeline or the media is jogged through with the Caps Lock on. The Show Source Record Timeline button gives users the options of looking at their current sequence Timeline or looking at the source Timeline. In addition to moving horizontally through the Timeline, segments can be moved vertically. Segment editing involves the moving of segments within the Timeline to eliminate, juxtapose, rearrange, or otherwise move a shot or a contiguous group of shots within the Timeline.
