ABSTRACT

The Trim mode is powerful and versatile, particularly on Avid systems. By default, the system enters the Trim mode with Center Trim enabled. Center trim is also the easiest way to keep professional editors sequence audio and video in sync, because it never makes the sequence longer or shorter in duration. Trimming single sides of transitions is a method of lengthening or shortening scenes. The click-and-drag method with rollers is used primarily for shorter trims, where only a few frames need to be added. Trimming on the Fly is a simple yet elegant way to adjust a transition based upon timing with real-time playback. Some editors can determine, based upon their experience, the approximate number of frames needed to be trimmed in a transition. The ability to dynamically trim media and view it as the trimming takes place makes trimming simple and precise.
