Getting it on the Air Outputting Graphics to Tape, NLE, and Still Store
Pick the Right Codec A codec is the method that a movie file is compressed and decompressed. Each NLE, clip server, and video board uses a particular codec. In order to quickly get your rendered animations into your NLE or other output device, it is recommended that you render with the device’s particular codec. You select the codec for your render in the Format Options of the Output module. Many people will render with the Animation codec, but this will cause your NLE to need to render the animation once it is imported. (However, if you don’t know what the destination system is, the Animation codec is a good one to use.) If you create animations for multiple systems, make sure that you have the codec for each target system installed, and render for the system you are sending the animation to.
