ABSTRACT

Currently, there are several consoles and platforms that games are being developed for. But as new ones are launched, games for the older generation are obviously no longer produced. Simple economics dictates that once the goldmine is played out, it’s time to move on to the next. At the moment this book was published, the Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, and Sony PlayStation 1 were on their way out the door and it’s doubtful you would ever do music for one of these platforms. So I won’t waste your time discussing historical audio details of how it used to be done. Instead, I shall concentrate on the consoles and platforms you will provide content for; PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advanced, CD-ROM, Java, Flash, and Coin-op.
